Songs of the Past Platforms Guide

The short list

Songs of the Past is scheduled for 2027 on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and Battle.net), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. That is the full public platform set. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the original Nintendo Switch are not on it. There is no announced cloud-only version that would let a last-gen console borrow Letten. If a store page still shows a PS4 or Xbox One Witcher 3 tile, that tile is the old adventure plus the newly freed Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine — not the third expansion.

Complete Edition is the only purchase SKU

From the gamescom 2026 announcements, Complete Edition became the only version of The Witcher 3 you can buy. Standalone Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine listings were delisted. If you already owned the base game, with or without those expansions, your library converted to Complete Edition. New buyers get Geralt’s main Path plus both older expansions in one package. Songs of the Past is not stuffed into that bundle. It is a paid expansion with no price yet.

That split matters when you comparison-shop. A Complete Edition discount is a way onto Remastered. It is not a pre-order of Letten. For how this third chapter sits against Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine as products, use the expansion comparison.

PC storefronts

Steam, GOG, Epic, and Battle.net all carry the PC build. Steam’s expansion app ID is 5006530. GOG has a dedicated Songs of the Past product page that still reads as coming soon. Epic’s buy path is easiest through thewitcher.com/buy until you are staring at a DLC tile in your library. Battle.net is the newcomer: CDPR and Blizzard announced a partnership at gamescom to bring Remastered and Songs of the Past onto Battle.net on the same 29 September 2026 calendar as the other PC clients. Buying the expansion on Battle.net is also the route CDPR named for a Geralt-inspired Diablo 4 skin, with more detail promised around BlizzCon.

GOG remains the DRM-free outlier. If you care about offline installers and the Classic branch CDPR pointed at when it described an older version remaining available, GOG is the storefront that historically made that easy. Steam has beta channels that can pin an older build. Neither workaround is a Songs of the Past install. Remastered on a Windows 11 PC with an SSD is the 2027 path; see system requirements before you assume a 2016 tower still qualifies.

Cross-platform mod support is still in progress. A Steam Workshop or Nexus setup that worked on DirectX 11 will not automatically follow you onto Battle.net or a console. Do not pick a PC store because a YouTuber promised unified mods on day one.

PlayStation 5

PS5 is a confirmed SKU, including Pro enhancement support on Remastered. The expansion is not a PS4 title and is not a backward-compat surprise. If your only copy is a PS4 disc, you need a PS5 Complete Edition license that will take the 29 September upgrade, then a separate Songs of the Past purchase in 2027. DualSense features already in the current PS5 client are the baseline; chain bindings will show up in the controls guide when they are documented.

PlayStation Store regional tiles can lag thewitcher.com/buy. Wishlist from the official router so you do not favorite a Complete Edition SKU and think you have reserved Letten.

Xbox Series X|S

Xbox Series X and Series S are both in. The Microsoft Store product ID for Songs of the Past is 9NHTWNZCD043. Remastered lists Xbox Play Anywhere, which is a license-sharing feature for the upgraded base game — it is not the same sentence as Game Pass.

Game Pass: unconfirmed. Comments under Xbox trailers are not an official listing. CD Projekt Red has not published a Game Pass day-one or launch-window confirmation for Songs of the Past. Until the Xbox store, a CDPR post, or Xbox Wire says the expansion is in the subscription, treat every “it’s on Game Pass” claim as rumor. Play Anywhere and a paid store SKU can coexist; a trailer comment cannot add a catalog tile.

Series S will run the same expansion, not a cut Letten. Expect the usual Series S resolution and effects tradeoffs. There is no public dynamic-range table yet.

Nintendo Switch 2

Gamescom added a native Switch 2 version of Remastered, with pre-orders for that SKU, and put Songs of the Past on Switch 2 for 2027. The original Switch port is a different binary. A Switch 1 cartridge does not become Letten. If you are coming from the 2019 Switch release, the path is the native Switch 2 Remastered client, then the paid expansion when it launches.

Handheld-specific features were mentioned in Remastered marketing copy without a public bullet list. Do not assume gyro aiming, a unique Gwent layout, or a cloud-saves surprise until Nintendo or CDPR writes it down.

How to choose without overthinking it

Stay on the store where your 200-hour save already lives if that store is in the current-gen set. Saves and cross-progression between the platforms CDPR already supported should continue; do not use a platform hop as an excuse to skip backups. If you are buying The Witcher 3 for the first time in 2026, buy Complete Edition on the machine you will still own in 2027, install Remastered on 29 September, and wishlist Songs of the Past from the official stores. Price TBA means there is nothing to “pre-purchase” except the base game and, on Switch 2, the Remastered SKU itself.
